As a Seattle native it’s rare to have such a long streak of crisp cold weather. But it gives the opportunity for some amazing photos! These views are of the majestic Mt. Si from a delightfully frigid walk around the frozen waters of the Old Mill Pond in Snoqualmie. An ancient Native American prometheus legend explains that Mt. Si is the dead body of Snoqualm, the moon. In one form of the legend, Snoqualm orders a rope of cedar bark be stretched between the earth and the sky. In effort to recognize the dedication of our team members, we celebrate with a fun adventure every summer. For our 23rd Annual Summer Outing, the V2Works Brandgineers made merry at Bullwinkles's & Family Fun Center in Tukwila, WA. Before the games, we fueled up with tropical island fare and cocktails at Bahama Breeze, then headed over to the park to hang out with Bullwinkle, Rocky and the gang. The sun was out, the weather was perfect, the mood was carefree, and we had absolutely no trouble at all amusing ourselves with fun activities such as Mini-Golf, Go-Carts, Laser Tag, the Screamin' Swing, Sling Shot, Air Hockey, Skee Ball and more — with a few rounds of Bumper Boats in between to soak each other and cool off. Every year V2Works celebrates summer and team camaraderie with the people who make great design happen every day: our talented team of Brandgineers! This year our team traded in their computers for Ducks, then flocked to downtown Seattle. The pleasure trip started with a loud, yet tasty lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe, where we filled up on good food, refreshments, and lively conversation. After our appetites were satiated, we traversed the land and water of the city in a WWII amphibious landing craft — otherwise known as "Ride the Ducks of Seattle." For the V2Works annual summer adventure, the team slathered themselves in sun screen, donned life preservers (at least for the first 5 minutes) and set a heading up the Sammamish River Slough towards Redhook Brewery on kayaks and paddle boards. The sweltering day was definitely packed to the gunwales with laughter, sweat, splashing, and amusing absurdity as we paddled away any thoughts of the office and focused on the 10-mile round-trip excursion. Although most of us were a bit sore the next day, and a few of us were sporting sunburns and blisters, we would all definitely do it again.
