Case Study: Kasea Motorsports

Case A pioneer in the youth ATV and scooter business, Kasea enjoyed years of industry-leading business, but had since felt it’s connection to their consumers waning. V2Works was brought in to update the brand’s image and increase consumer relativity in the youth ATV and scooter markets by heightening consumer interest and increasing dealer revenue momentum. Strategy We approached Kasea’s brand with a fresh viewpoint of appealing directly to the youth market, creating a fun suite of marketing collateral which positioned the brand at the forefront of the industry, and allowed Kasea to demand increased dealer volume. Results Annual sales increased five-fold after their re-brand. Kasea captured the dealer revenue they were seeking, and enjoyed a return to consumer attention [...]

Case Study: Nastech Photography

Case Nastech Pharmaceuticals (now Marina Biotech) was an emerging pharmaceutical research and development company needing an edge to set them apart from the sea of tired stock image choices in the competitive pharmaceutical industry. Strategy V2Works was approached to create an extensive library of marketing imagery and product photography. Results Nastech was provided with a full library of royalty-free promotional and product imagery to be used across a spectrum of web and [...]

Case Study: The Napoleon Company

Case One of Seattle’s original family-owned and operated businesses, The Napoleon Company is a leading importer of gourmet foods in the US. Founded in 1903, the company has a richly storied past, but found their imagery to be lacking the professionalism and visual depth they needed when entering their second century of business. Strategy V2Works approached Napoleon’s photography with the attitude that cooking is art, and treated their subject as such. Using warm colors and organic, artistic staging, we created a comprehensive library of imagery that draws the viewer in and showcases their world-class products. Results Completely redefining the company’s visual impact in the imported foods marketplace, Napoleon’s new imagery was such a hit that they doubled the quantity [...]

Beauty and Functionality in Type

Type can get overlooked in design as being the unavoidable workhorse: something that is there to do a job and not look beautiful. But type can and should be beautiful, and an elegant means of conveying information. As with everything else, there are guidelines that should be followed that will make your copy look neat and professional and convey your message with elegance and ease. Here are some tips for making your type look its best:Use a single space after periods.Entering two spaces is a holdback from monospaced typewriter days. Today's word processing programs enter enough space between a period and a first word; doubling that space will make your copy look like it's riddled with small holes.Don't make your lines too many characters long.Robert Bringhurst, author of The Elements [...]

Hamilton Sample Storage. Large-scale storage solutions.

Conveying the Message Hamilton Sample Storage approached V2Works to help them promote a line of storage solutions. These solutions are very large-scale and aren’t the type of solution that can be purchased or installed easily, so Hamilton asked V2Works to help them convey their capabilities for large-scale sample storage. Our approach was to be less literal and more conceptual when conveying the message of large-scale cold storage. My Thrift Shopping Obsessions (2 of 3)

Vintage Enamelware Another item that I'm mildly obsessed with is enamelware—this is metal (steel, cast iron, or aluminum) that's covered with brilliantly colored enamel. Cathrineholm is specifically highly collectible and beautiful (as seen on the teapot and bowl). Dansk also made a line of enamel cooking ware from the 1950s to 1970s that has very recently been revived and is now being manufactured again and distributed through Crate and Barrel. I love it because it's both functional and beautiful, and the colors are intensely bright and fun. Shown below, from front to back and left to right: Emalox of Norway red bowl (circa 1960s-1980s); orange Cathrineholm bowl in the Lotus pattern (circa 1960s-1970s); blue enamel butter warmer (circa 1980s); orange Cathrineholm Lotus teapot (circa 1960s-1970s); Dansk yellow pot with teak handle and [...]
